A news story caught my eye a few days ago in which a 6-year old girl accidentally ordered a $170 dollhouse and a 4-pound container of cookies using her family’s new Amazon Echo Dot. Apparently, she was talking to Alexa about what she wanted for Christmas, and managed to trigger the purchasing functionality of the Echo Dot. It’s a cute story, and fortunately pretty harmless since Amazon offers an excellent return policy.
I had forgotten about this story until it popped up again in the news a few days later. And the reason it’s making headlines again is far funnier than the first time.
